ABOUT ERTAN SOYDAN

Upon completing his elementary and secondary education in Izmir, Mr. Ertan Soydan, our company’s founder and Chairman of the Board, studied at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Mechanical Engineering. He graduated with high honours in 1974, and started to work at Alarko as a department engineer. In 1977, he completed his graduate degree at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Industrial Engineering.

He became a sales manager at the Izmir branch of Alarko in 1977, and in 1979 he was appointed the PVC construction supervisor of Alarko during the establishment of Petkim.

In 1982, he opened the Izmir branch of Mert Teknik A.Ş., in the field of hydraulics and pneumatics. He worked as the Izmir Regional Director of the company until June 2016.

He acted as the Chairman of the Executive Board of the 1^st National Hydraulics and Pneumatics Congress, held in 1999, and the 2^nd National Hydraulics and Pneumatics Congress, held in 2001. He acted as a member at the 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th Congresses. In 2011, at the 6^th Congress, he resumed his role as the Chairman of the Executive Board. He was also the panel moderator at the 3^rd and 6^th Congresses where challenges in the hydraulics and pneumatics sector were discussed. At the 7^th Congress, he acted as the Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, and was the moderator of the panel “The Importance of Engineering Services in the Industry and Competition Conditions”.

He was a member of the professional committee at Izmir Chamber of Commerce between 1991 and 2013. He was also a Member of the Council of Izmir Chamber of Commerce from 1999 to 2005, and from 2009 to 2013. Between 2005 and 2009, he was a member of the Disciplinary Board of Izmir Chamber of Commerce.

Currently, he is a member of Izmir Chamber of Commerce Education and Health Foundation and also a member of the Board of Trustees at Izmir University of Economics. He is also a member of the Turkish Chamber of Mechanical Engineers. He is a member of the Urla Rotary Club, where he served as President in 2015.

Mr. Soydan founded Ertan Soydan A.Ş. in July 2016 and will continue his contributions to the development of the hydraulics, pneumatics and automation industries in Turkey.
